If you’re in the mood for the ultimate in romantic accommodation, bedrooms situated in ‘birds’ nests’ villas in Thailand have been voted the ‘sexiest’ in the world.
Keemala in Phuket came first in the sexiest bedrooms section of The Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Awards, which celebrates stylish places to stay and demonstrates the fantastic diversity in the travel market.
“Romance comes in many guises – and there are no hard and fast rules for creating the perfect boudoir,” said Mr and Mrs Smith when introducing the competition, which was decided by public vote.
“But some things we can all agree on: it has to delight, excite and surprise. A room ripe for seduction needs to do more than get the basics right: the hotel you think is home to the World’s Sexiest Bedroom will pull out all the stops to light your fire.”
Inspired by the Rung-Nok Clan (Nest Clan) who enjoyed an opulent life, Keemala’s eight Bird’s Nest Pool Villas are based on an intriguing mix of history and myth, loosely based on ancient tribal dwellings.
They feature a master bedroom with a king-size bed. They also have a luxurious bathroom with a monsoon shower and stand-alone bathtub.
The clan would bathe under the moonlight believing that their souls would be replenished, which provides the inspiration for the beautiful villas. The private pool and outdoor sun deck offers splendid views of the forest and sea.
The judges were also extremely impressed by the bedrooms in the resort’s 30 other villas, which included the Tent Pool Villas – canvas-covered hideaways each set on a rocky outcrop, Clay Pool Cottages and Tree Pool Houses.
The romance factor is also enhanced by the resort’s holistic philosophy, which encompasses healing spa rituals and healthy home-grown cuisine.
The Atelier Room at the NoMad Hotel in New York came in second place in the sexiest bedrooms competition, with Marrangga Villa in Nihiwatu, Indonesia, taking third place.
